11th AegeanDocs - The tribute to Lakis Papastathis
With a dedication to the work of Lakis Papastathis, the 11th AegeanDocs meets the friends of the documentary in the islands of the North Aegean from October 17 to 22.
In collaboration with the Directorate of Secondary Education in the North Aegean, special screenings-events are be planned for schools.
Specific creations of Lakis Papastathis, from the emblematic shows of ERT: PARASKINIO, Looking for the Lost Image and Histerographo, will be screened to High Schools students in seminar-style educational screenings.
These documentaries are:
Aliki Vougiouklakis,
Manolis Anagnostakis,
Theophilos Again?
The Magical City of Kundouros,
Short Stories in the Panepistimiou street and
Omonia Square.
Lakis Papastathis was born in Volos in 1943. He studied at the Center for Cinema Studies (1963). In 1972, he first directed the short film Letters from America, which won an award at the Thessaloniki Festival. In the period 1968-1971 he worked as an assistant director, mainly in Eudokia by Alexis Damianos. Three years later he moved to television, where as a director-producer, he created with Takis Hatzopoulos the series Behind the Scenes and Historical Archive.
He directed the feature films: Time of the Greeks (1981), Theofilos (1987), The only life of a taxi (2001), Journey to Mytilene (2010).
The last television station for Laki Papastathi was the show "Ysterografo".
Guests of 11th AegeanDocs Festival 17- 22 October at Mytilene/Lesvos and Ikaria
Film directors, producers, executives of Cinema and TV organizations, film critics, academics, teachers, and cultural activists from Europe, the Middle East and Greece are the guests of the AegeanDocs 2023, in its 11th edition.
Our guests will meet in the Q & A sessions the audience of Lesvos and Ikaria and they will discuss via internet with the audience in the other 7 islands.
