AEGEANDOCS 2015- THE OFFICIAL SELECTION

The AegeanDocs International Documentary Film Festival announces the selection of the 52 documentaries, which will participate in the official (competition) program of the AegeanDocs 2015 in Lesvos, Chios and the other islands of the Northern Aegean from 28 September to 4 October 2015.

The list represents 22 countries from Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, America and Africa. We are proud because we have received an impressive number of well qualified film proposals – 347 films from around the world – and the selection committee was in a difficult position to make the selection. After careful review and consideration, the AegeanDocs committee has selected 52 films for the official program.

The timetable of the Festival screenings will be announced later in August together with the list of guest films, retrospectives on famous directors, workshops, master classes, Q&A with the invited directors.

The 3rd AegeanDocs is back to the North Aegean!

The AegeanDocs International Documentary Festival returns to its public from the 28th of September to the 4th of October in Mytilene and the whole region of North Aegean. 70 films from 22 countries awarded in the most acknowledged European festivals create a cultural audiovisual context based on human principles.
The aim of the AegeanDocs is to promote political, social and historical documentaries, created by international cinema professionals and young amateurs from the island of Lesvos. Furthermore, during the festival, special tutorial film seminars will be organized exclusively for the audience in a closed partnership with the University of the Aegean.
In the Municipal Theater of Mytilene but also with live broadcasted in the islands of Chios, Samos, and Syros and in collaboration with the University of Aegean, the AegeanDocs returns in order to highlight the blue waters of the Aegean Sea the power of culture and the 7th art.
The AegeanDocs in collaboration with the Directorate of Secondary Education opens its doors to youth with special screenings for high schools of Lesvos every day from 11.00 to 14.00 at the Municipal Theatre.
In the island of Lesvos, three halls will available for screenings every evening: a) The Municipal Theater of Mytilene 17.00 – 23.00, b) the small Municipal Theater of Lesvos in Chrisomalousa 20.00 – 23.00 and c) the Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production of Lesvos in Agia Paraskevi 18.00 – 22.00. Moreover, screenings will be conducted in the islands of Lemnos, Ikaria, Fournoi, Oinouses, Agios Efstratios and Psara.
The entrance to the Festival is free. All citizens from the young generation to the senior one are invited to highlight and enrich the beautiful sea of the Aegean with the power of culture and cinema.
Film creators and producers from Europe, Asia, Arab World and Africa present their films and discuss with the audience nowadays problems and difficulties. The AegeanDocs creates a multinational puzzle through which everyone is able to travel in adventurous and unusual places and meet different and unknown ethics and cultures.
